• We are in need of help. (v.1)
• The hills hide those who would beset us
  - robbers, etc.
• The hills contain false promises/hopes
  - altars of false worship
• The hills conceal the goal of our journey
  - Jerusalem


• Where does our help come from? (v.1)
• The LORD - YHVH - covenant God. (v.2,5,7,8)
• The Creator (v.2)
• The guardian/keeper/preserver (v.3,4,5,7,8)
• The ever-vigilant One (v.3,4)


• What help does He provide?
• Below: feet do not tremble (v.3)
• Above: shade (v.5-6)
• Outward: protect from evil (v.7)
• Inward: protect the soul
• All Around: going out and coming in (v.8)


• What is the extent of His help?
• From now - He keeps (v.8)
• Forevermore - He shall keep (v.8)
